Review: Macadamia Natural Oil - Deep Repair Masque

Hello Everyone!

Today's post is a product that I have been wanting to try for a long time and that is the Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque.  I have heard a lot of buzz about this product and waited until now to give it a try!

So...here is what it claims to do, "Revitalizing hair reconstructor for dry, damaged hair (that would be me)"  If you are curious about ingredients I will post below!

It also states that it combines, "tea tree and chamomile oils along with aloe and algae extracts combine with our Macadamia and Argan oils to produce miracle-like hair rejuvenation"

DIRECTIONS: liberally comb through clean, wet hair and allow up to 7 min of penetration before rinsing.  No heat necessary.  Deep repair masque is an intense treatment.  Use no more than twice a week.

REVIEW: So I saw several sites that had this product including ulta.com, the product website which is called macadamiahair.com, and finally amazon.com.  I found amazon to be the cheapest costing $25.00 plus 2 day shipping so I took this offer because I found it to be a better deal.  I also bought it in the 16.9 fl.oz. (500mL) which is the larger size (the smaller one is 8.5 fl.oz. and $15.50 costing about $1.83/oz vs. $1.48/oz of the larger tub).  I used a standard no. 2 pencil to give you guys an idea of what it looks like size-wise.

SO ON TO THE GOOD STUFF!
what i thought...the packaging was super cute, simple..and natural looking, when I first got it I actually thought it wouldn't last me too long just because my hair is super coarse and thick and i have A LOT of hair on my head not to mention it is long (length reaches lower back).  Surprisingly a little of this stuff goes a long way, I use about two quarter-sized amounts and apply right after shampoo and conditioner.  This stuff is like a pearly, cream-colored paste and has the consistency of a thick body cream only oily-..er?  It also has a herbal essence-y scent to it...i would say on the floral side if your worried that it smells like ACTUAL macadamia nuts, dont worry it doesnt.  ANYWAYSSSSS I let it sit and "penetrate" for at least 7 minutes before washing it off with COLD WATER (washing with cold water makes your hair softer and shinier, not freezing cold but a cold you are comfortable with when showering, your will notice it feels softer when rinsing even if you don't use fancy products but just plain conditioner).  When i was washing this off it was like INCREDIBLY slick, it just slid right in-between my fingers and so smooth!  I was impressed, but my hair normally feels nice when its wet...the challenge is what it feels like once it dries.

Since I have so much hair, and thick too I decided to blow dry my hair which took about 35min on the Cool setting and Turbo speed.  I use to dry my hair with the standard heat settings but i feel that it really damages and dries out my hair so i try to stay away from it now.  I just used a paddle brush and blow dried it and i didnt really feel that much of a difference....although i did enjoy the smell which stayed on even after i washed the product off.  After it dried i felt like there wasnt that much of a difference and then i called it a night and went to bed.

So the next morning i wake up at like 8am to go to class and i sit in the very front of a lecture hall and after 20 min i realize I CANNOT STOP TOUCHING MY HAIR.  It like INCREDIBLY soft and i feel like the ends are really moisturized not to mention it still SMELLS WONDERFUL.  Actually this might be a bad product just because it was so distracting and i just kept playing and playing with my hair marveling at how soft it was, and only after one use!?! whaaaa??? this IS a miracle cream!!

You might be thinking that $25.00 is a bit much, but if you do struggle with breakage, dull, and rough hair this will definitely do the trick and I'm sure it will last me a year FOR SURE.  I would for sure recommend this product to anyone and the only downside to it is that you can only use it for a max of 2x per week...i pretty much get EXCITED to jump in the shower to put this on my head and waiting makes me anxious, however you should follow the directions and resist, the oils in this product are very concentrated and very potent so be careful not to overuse.

NOTE: many people have said it has helped repair their split ends but this is not TRUE.  Being a bio major i feel like i know just A LITTLE bit about how the body and cells function and as far as i know when hair splits in half, the last time i checked it couldnt fuse back into a single shaft.  The only way to "repair" a split end it just to trim those little buggers off, the correct phrase i think they were looking for is PREVENT split ends, this cream is just so moisturizing that dry hair will never be a problem.

Hope this was helpful!
